Stardome visit to South Bromsgrove

Five schools shared in a day of stars and space at South Bromsgrove High School as part of the British Science week. Students from the host school, North Bromsgrove High, Bromsgrove School, St John’s Middle and Alvechurch schools all had sessions in a “pop-up” planetarium courtesy of the Ogden Trust and Keele University.

Scott Walker (PhD) searches for exoplanets when he’s not touring with the Stardome and he was able to tell the students about his work and how he goes about finding other worlds, possibly inhabited, in our universe – exoplanets. Students were also treated to an exploration of our solar system, our universe, and its origins.

…and after! You can hide 30 kids in there…

Steve Clark, Head of Physics, said, ”We’re just very grateful for the generosity of the Ogden Trust and their ambition to support physics in schools. It’s a great opportunity to inspire students and get them interested in the science of space.”
