Excellent A level standards continue at South Bromsgrove High
Sixth Form students at South Bromsgrove High have maintained the very high standards expected of an outstanding school both in A Levels and BTEC qualifications.
In 2019, 44% of all A level passes stood at A*-B (an increase of 4% on the previous year) and 51% of BTEC entries at Distinction Star or Distinction, with an overall pass rate of over 97% from a year group of 166. There were many excellent grades across a range of subjects and a number of students performed extremely well with high grades across the board. 22 students achieved at least 2 A grades out of 3 subjects and 11 students gained 3 A*or A, with three students achieving 3 A* grades. At BTEC, 5 students achieved the triple award D*DD and 3 the double award D*D.
In addition to academic success, 68 students in Year 13 completed their two year Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award Expedition and are set to claim the Award in September - a prize highly valued by universities and employers.
Headteacher, Chris Smith, is very pleased with the results. “I would like to congratulate students on their outstanding achievements this year and thank parents for their support during the Sixth Form years. We believe that all of our students will secure their destinations beyond school and we wish them well as they embark on this new and exciting stage of their lives.
Students’ success is always achieved through hard work and determination in their studies but I would also like thank Governors, teaching and support staff for their continuing excellent leadership and support of students at South Bromsgrove High.”
