South Bromsgrove Students Visit GYMSHARK
A group of GCSE and A-level Textiles students from South Bromsgrove High School recently paid a visit to fitness clothing manufacturer, Gymshark. The business was founded by ex-South Bromsgrove student, Ben Francis, in 2012 when he was just 19. The company has seen extraordinary growth; from humble beginnings in Ben's parents’ garage in Bromsgrove, to becoming the fastest growing company in the UK. The students had Ben as their personal tour guide for the afternoon as they visited Gymshark's brand new Headquarters in Solihull. The students were blown away by the dynamic working environment and the amazing facilities enjoyed by the employees, including games areas, outdoor basketball, meeting pods and a massage and therapy centre. Textiles teacher and visit leader, Jenny Hawthorn said, 'The students really enjoyed the experience and were able to see, first-hand the entire design process and see how the gym wear is created'.
Ben said that it was something he would have appreciated when he was at school and invited the group to visit again when their next venture, Gymshark Project X is up and running. Mr Siddle, Deputy Headteacher at South Bromsgrove said, 'Ben explained how important it is to think big and take risks to make a successful business.
It was great to see Ben doing so well and I couldn't believe how many former students were working for Gymshark! The school is extremely proud of Ben's achievements and we were very grateful that he was able to make time for us'.
