On Thursday 15th November South Bromsgrove High school held its annual Futures Afternoon. Whilst local middle school children were entertained by a performance of the school’s Eisteddfod competition South Bromsgrove students from years 9 to 12 were engaged in a variety of careers focussed activities.
Former students and members of the local business community joined in to lead workshops about their careers areas and talk about the world of work. Over 20 visitors came in representing big national companies such as Jaguar Landrover, Mondelez and Serco, local enterprises like Redfrost Photography, Barton Firtop, Midlan Technical Translations and Crackon Productions, or public services including the NHS and the Immigration service. The Armed Services were represented by a former student now training at RAF Cosford as an aeronautical engineer. Other former students from health and law were also in attendance including a GP, pharmacist, mental health nurse, barrister and legal apprentice. And the list also included engineers, sports graduates and a local vet.
