South’s Eisteddfod Finale
House Team Leaders for Plymouth (Green), Vernon (Blue) and Talbot (Red)
Wednesday and Friday last week saw the culmination of several weeks of extra work by hundreds of students and staff being played out to packed houses. Every year students compete in Music (including solo and choir pieces), Drama, PE and Dance, and Art.
Wednesday saw the Basketball and Dance finals, both sections being hotly contested, and Vernon were rewarded with the overall PE cup.
The enormously varied Art entries were judged on Friday and Vernon again pipped the others to the post. Friday night, saw the Hall extended into the restaurant area to accommodate the huge number in the audience. The student numbers involved were huge, the choirs alone consisting of about 200 students in each of the three house choirs.
After a hugely exciting and long evening, Plymouth was awarded the Music Cup and Talbot was awarded the Drama cup.
The Eisteddfod cup for 2017 was awarded to Vernon – a close but well deserved win.
Although the competitive tension between the houses was almost off the scale this was, once again, a hugely enjoyable evening, celebrating our fabulous students.
