Worcestershire Young Poet Laureate for 2026-2027

South Bromsgrove’s Lauren H has been named Worcestershire Young Poet Laureate for 2026-2027! She maintains South’s rich tradition of young poets holding this honoured role, following in the footsteps of ex-South Bromsgrove students Faith T and Evie H, the latter passing on the baton to Lauren as the reigning incumbent of the post. She was crowned both the KS5 and overall winner, performing two of her own poems at an event at the Hive Library in Worcester in March. This follows on from Lauren’s successful participation in both the school’s Eisteddfod poetry competition as well as the national Poetry by Heart competition. She now becomes an ambassador for creative writing in her role, with her already booked up for events, including performing her poem ‘Freedom’ at the 5 Beacons of Light event at Worcester Cathedral, as well as being invited to write a poem for the Worcestershire Literary Festival this June. A bright year of poetry awaits for Lauren.
