Our Sports Offer
The Physical Education Department at South Bromsgrove High School believe that ‘better people make better students and athletes.’ We are proud of our broad and balanced curriculum that appropriately challenges and supports students of all abilities and levels of experiences to make lots of progress.
Our highly experienced and motivated staff plan fun and engaging lessons that focus on developing our students as people, not just athletes. We work hard to develop personal skills that are transferable to society, skills such as teamwork, accountability, creativity, communication and problem-solving.
We deliver a wide range of activities in our curriculum that includes but is not limited to; Football, Rugby, Cricket, Basketball, Badminton, Netball, Trampolining, Tennis and Athletics. Our ultimate aim is that students leave South with a positive experience of physical activity because this will increase their chances of lifelong involvement and a healthier lifestyle. We ensure that students understand the importance of Physical Education and why staying physically active is so beneficial for their social, mental and physical health.
We are pleased to offer our students the chance to study sport specific examination courses at KS4 (GCSE PE) and KS5 (A Level PE and Level 3 BTEC Sport). We also offer many extra-curricular activities including but not limited to; Football, Rugby, Cricket, Athletics, Netball and Rounders, Tennis, offering both training and fixtures in leagues and cups. Although we are focussed upon participation, performance is also recognised and supported.
We produce, supported by clubs, many county, regional and national performers across a range of sports and offer a ‘Gifted and Talented’ provision to mentor and support these individuals further. In addition, we are also heavily focused upon student leadership and create many opportunities for interested individuals to excel in this area. House Sports also take place termly - and the passion and drive is something to behold!
