At South, we believe that all students should achieve their potential and have access to the support and enrichment which allows them to do this. Transition is very important to us, and we spend a lot of time working with our feeder schools to gain knowledge about our students and to develop our SEND register.
We usually offer our Intervention work in year 9 and this might include opportunities such as a six week phonics catch up course or a handwriting programme. We also have a SEND academic monitoring scheme where we work with students across all year groups.
A team of teaching assistants provide support in lessons, and we would look to personalise timetables where appropriate for individual students. We do formal exam access assessments in year 10 in preparation for our PPEs and the GCSE exams.
Our SEND report is in the link below and provides more detail about what we offer.
