Careers Guidance

As a school South Bromsgrove High offers independent, impartial careers advice and guidance regarding education, employment, training opportunities to students across years 9 to 13. We have an experienced careers adviser, Mrs Helen Harrod, who meets one to one with students to offer careers advice and guidance. Appointments are targeted at specific key transition points with a view to supporting students with decision making concerning their future options.

We offer:

  • One to one impartial career guidance appointments for Year 11 students who are considering their post 16 options; Sixth Form, college, apprenticeships.

  • Guidance for students in Year 9 with their option choices.

  • One to one impartial career guidance appointments for Sixth Form students with regards to their Post 18 options, including University, gap year, further and higher education, employment apprenticeships and training.

  • A drop-in at breaks and lunchtimes for any students to come and ask questions about careers or education.

  • A wide range of visits and speakers are arranged to support students in their career choices/education over their time at the school.

  • A careers library based in the Hub where students can do personal research into career ideas and employment routes. A selection of Further and Higher Education prospectuses are also available for students.
