Bromsgrove’s Brilliant Scholars at Oxford University
South Bromsgrove Students in the quad at Trinity (L-R) Jake Longley, Lauren Parton, Amelia Duncan, Megan Reynolds, Alex Childs, Skylar Weaver, Alice Whitten
A group of students from South Bromsgrove High were given a taste of the Oxbridge life for a day at Trinity College, Oxford. This was the culmination of six weeks work the students had put in as part of the Brilliant Club initiative, which had been kindly funded by the Bromsgrove Rotary Club. After a day’s initiation at Warwick University the students met weekly with researcher, Helen Curley, to learn about her work in the data analysis of cancer samples. Doing their own analysis the students had to submit a 2000 word essay to be marked to university standard. Many were extremely pleased to receive first class or 2i (upper-second) grades.
